Today, Pope Francis congratulated the journalist who “caught” him this week on a visit to old friends who run a record store in Rome, joking that his “bad luck” was that the news was published.
The visit was supposed to remain a secret on Tuesday night, but Javier Martinez-Brocal from the television news agency “Rom Reports” happened to be in the center of Rome, Reuters reported.

He filmed it with his smartphone, posted the video on Twitter and it went viral.
In a letter sent yesterday to Martinez-Brocal, Pope Francis (85) congratulated him on his work and lamented his bad luck.
– You cannot deny that it was a case of bad luck … that he was a journalist after taking all precautionary measures at the taxi station, Pope Francis wrote in a letter that Martinez-Brokal shared with his colleagues today, according to Tanjug.
“One should not lose one’s sense of humor,” Pope Francis wrote.
“Thank you for doing your job, even though it put the pope in an awkward position,” he said.
