A freight forwarder was arrested for cocaine in a cargo of bananas

PODGORICA – Freight forwarder Ђ.Д. He was arrested and detained on suspicion of being a member of a criminal organization that smuggled cocaine in packages of bananas, which were intended for the company Voli, special prosecutor Miroslav Turkovic announced today. A load of about 500 kilograms of cocaine was found by Volia workers in a package with bananas, and then the management of that company informed the police.

At the press conference of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office and the Police Administration, Turkovic said that several other persons from Montenegro, whose identification is being worked on, participated in drug smuggling, RTCG reported.

Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić said that he could claim with certainty that the cocaine was not intended for the company Voli, and that it should have been taken on the way from Bar to Voli.

Turkovic said that the prosecution had obtained data indicating suspicion that in 2021 a criminal organization was created in Slovenia, Montenegro and the territory of Ecuador that committed a number of criminal acts, namely unauthorized production, possession and sale of drugs, reports Tanjug .

“Evidence suggests … that a Montenegrin citizen, JD … had the task of manipulating containers with bananas containing cocaine, delivering container numbers to buyers of this southern fruit, all with the aim of seizing drugs below customs measures.” said Turkovic.

Members of the criminal group became some other persons from Montenegro, who “performed tasks in the free customs zone in the Port of Bar, whose task was to follow the orders and instructions of the organizers to cover the containers with drugs, remove drugs from the container and hand it over to others to the members of the organization for further transport from the customs zone “, said Turković.
